The Arrival of Alexander Tan Jia Yang 陈佳陽

29 March 2019 Hubby had picked me up from my Company’s Townhall at Changi Cove around 6:00pm. Actually thought water bag burst during Townhall during rehearsal at around 3ish-pm. Met Aidan for our usual sumptuous Korean dinner at Katong V after Aidan’s Wang Learning weekly Friday lesson. came Thought what felt like contractions around 8ish-pm, but was not entirely sure (thought tummy was upset/bloated from the sumptuous Korean dinner). Went to poo & took a shower. Laid sideways on the bed to manage the tummy upset, but nagging feeling to start timing contractions via the app (at hubby's advice). Whoa, contractions were coming at 5-minutes intervals, each lasting around 4-5 minutes. The app alerted that it is best to head to the hospital! Gosh, my hospital bag was not fully packed (procrastinator me!) Had slight difficulty in walking & needed Liza's help to accompany me in the lift to the car. Had some show while seated at the back of the car seat. It was probably around 9:30/10:00pm by the time we reached Mt Alvernia. Hubby got help for a hospital staff to wheel me up to the delivery ward in a wheelchair. Contractions were less manageable now. Was wheeled into Delivery Suite #5 and I was shaking while the staff Juliana did a VE and alerted that I was 5cm dilated! And ready for epidural! I felt my right hand was shaking from the Holy Spirit & comforted when I started at the Mother Mary & Jesus picture affixed on the wall. Asked for my rosary & the brown scapular came attached to it. Was given oxygen mask (which I refused initially), but Juliana kept urging me to breathe through the oxygen mask. Epidural was administered & I felt better & more relaxed (the oxygen mask helped too). Dr. Tseng arrived at around 11:30pm and commented he could see baby's head now, which requires at most ONE push! At his instruction, I started the push (a gentle convicted push) and next 2 pushes were breathing normally. I was truly glad I experienced a gentle, peaceful & loving birth! Quite unlike the 30+ pushes I had with Aidan! Was really glad Juliana, together with another Indian nurse was by my side. Baby Alexander was born 11:40pm! Hubby was weeping tears of joy as baby Alexander was placed in my arms (with all the mucous/goo), but he was too PERFECT and God's miracle for us!
